v1.2.3 Release Notes/Pending Changes

These are the release notes/pending changes for July 22 2026 Release of RyGuySecure WebService.

All Pages:

UPDATE VERSION NUMBER TO v1.2.3 (testing) up top and on the footer

Fix the Light Mode button to say the current mode.
Change the Default light mode to System Default
Update the All Page Backgrounds to Match there Current Weather Conditions (use location)
Make the backgrounds be nicer looking and more realistic
Put the current date and time in the top right corner of all pages. (format for date is MM/DD/YY and the format for time is 00:00:00 AM/PM. Maybe put it along side the temps

Home:

Remove the certifications tab ONLY FROM HOMEPAGE!!
Change the Live Weather Tab to say “RealTime Conditons For Your County, Right Here, Right now” or something like that
Change Recent Updates Tab to say “RyGuy Web Services Updates” and change the bio to something along the lines of that.
Change “This site is a home base for everything homelab — from networking and server administration to cloud and identity management. Explore the sections below” to say something that this is my personal experimental homelab site with a custom domain.

Bio:

Update my bio to mention my Buckeye Career Center IT Lab Experience. Also mention that I have been obsessed with Technology so much so that when I was younger, My Dad bought me TV remotes to mess with. So how much I have learned and expanded. Make it sound Like i Wrote it plz.

Weather:

Add Hour By Hour on the 7 Day Forecast when clicked tabs
Change it so it ONLY DISPLAYS REGIONAL ALERTS when LOOKING AT TUSCARAWAS COUNTY OR ONE OF THE COUNTIES MENTIONED! NO OTHER COUNTY.
Remove Traffic Cameras Entirely. The idea was scrapped.
Make sure that whatever is on the weather page is correctly displayed in the top right corner. (the emoji by the temperature)
Add the Last Observation Time to Weather Page
Change “Tuscarawas County, Ohio — NWS live radar, UV & air quality.” to line up with the actual users location

Sunrise/sunset time-of-day tinting: real sunrise/sunset times drive a daypart-dawn/day/dusk/night class on <body> with a soft color-wash overlay (warm at dawn, pink/purple at dusk, dark vignette at night) — separate from the condition background, transitions smoothly.
Animated temp count-up: the big current-temp number now eases from the old value to the new one instead of snapping.
"Rain starting soon" nowcast banner: pulls Open-Meteo's 15-minute precipitation data; shows "Rain is falling right now" or "Rain expected around HH:MM — in ~X min" (or nothing if dry for the next 2 hours).

Your 8-item list

Photo-realistic backgrounds — layered radial "sky light" + multi-stop gradients per condition (light & dark) instead of flat 3-stop washes — a real hotlinked photo API wasn't reliable/keyless, so I went procedural instead.
Parallax depth — sun/moon/clouds subtly shift with pointer movement (disabled on touch devices where it wouldn't apply).
Better forecast cards — each of the 7-day tiles now has a colored temp-range bar and a precipitation % readout, not just in the modal.
Home-screen/widget feel — generated the missing favicon.ico + manifest.json (proper PWA icons, standalone display) and added a ?widget=1 compact mode showing just a clean current-conditions card, good for screenshots/embeds.
Recently viewed locations — quick-swap chips under the location bar, remembers your last 5 spots plus a pinned "Tuscarawas Co." chip.
Share this forecast — renders a branded canvas image of current conditions and uses native share sheet (falls back to download).
Storm tracking timeline — horizontal timeline of active alerts (yours + regional) plotted across a -6h/+42h window with a "now" marker.
Air quality/pollen trend — 24-hour AQI sparkline plus a pollen breakdown chart (hides gracefully if pollen data isn't available for the area).

Mobile "app" pass

New bottom tab bar (Home/Bio/Weather/Updates) on screens ≤720px, top nav hides to reduce clutter.
Mobile now lands on the Weather page by default — index.html redirects to weather.html on small screens; the bottom nav's Home tab uses ?home=1 to bypass that redirect so you can still reach the homepage.
General responsive cleanup: clock/badges wrap properly, storm timeline and pollen rows collapse to single columns on narrow widths, safe-area padding for iPhone home indicator.
